JAMMU, Jan 31: In a dazzling display of spin, Praful Dhar, Vishal Kumar and Sarvashish Singh turned the tide for Jammu and Kashmir on Day 2 of the Men’s U-23 CK Nayudu Trophy at BSL Cricket Stadium, Bokaro Jharkhand.
Jharkhand resumed at 20/0 and displayed solid intent, but J&K’s spinners weaved a tight web, restricting the opposition to 272/8. Satya Setu (48*) and Manishi (7*) remained unbeaten. Earlier, Bisesh Dutta top-scored with 73 off 138 balls, supported by Aryan Hooda’s 68, Nakul Yadav’s 47 and Setu’s resilience.
Praful Dhar was the pick of the bowlers with 4/86 in 21 overs, while Vishal Kumar claimed 3/69 in 26 overs and Sarvashish Singh remained miserly with 1/58 in 29 overs. On Day 1, J&K’s Basit Nazir had starred with a brilliant 111, complemented by Udhay Partap Singh’s 56, before Jharkhand’s bowlers struck back. Off-spinner Kounain Quraishi (4/46) led the rout, with Harsh Raj (3 wickets), Manishi (2), and Tanish (1) dismantling the innings.
The contest remains finely poised, with J&K needing a strong total in Jharkhand’s final innings to swing the match in their favour.
