JKMEF highlights demands, decides to resume strike from Nov 20

JAMMU: Jammu & Kashmir Medical Employees Federation (JKMEF) Jammu has decided to resume its strike, which was earlier suspended, from November 20 at Director Health Services Complex Jammu, followed by a Chain hunger strike from November 23, 2021, in support of various long pending issues. It was stated by President JKMEF, Sushil Sudan while addressing a Press conference at Press Club Jammu on Thursday.
Speaking on the occasion, Sudan said that after a long agitation of the federation, on August 5, 2021, representatives of JKMEF reached an agreement for holding Departmental Promotion Committee in respect of all categories of Health employees besides making necessary amendment in SRO-20 with the then Financial Commissioner (Additional Chief Secretary Health & Medical Education) Atal Dulloo at Kashmir. “After getting assurance from Atal Dulloo that DPC rules will be framed within 15 days, JKMEF suspended its protest but till date nothing has been done in this regard, forcing the federation to resume its suspended agitation,” said Sudan, adding, “Moreover, after COVID-19 pandemic, LG acknowledged services of doctors and paramedical staff by announcing cash incentives for them but till date not even a single health warrior has received the same.” He further urged the Government to take necessary measures for holding DPCs for all categories of Health employees besides making necessary amendments in SRO-20.
Others present on the occasion included Parfulat Singh, R P Singh, Bharat Bhushan Bhagat, Madan Lal Sharma, Aslam Bhai, Mohd Nadeem, Sanjay Khajuria, Jarnail Singh, Harpal Singh, Kamal Sawhney, Dharminder Singh, Pawan Singh Jamwal.
