Drug peddlers arrested in Anantnag

Srinagar, Feb 4: Police in Anantnag today arrested three drug peddlers from different areas and recovered over 515 grams of charas and brown sugar during separate operations.
Officials said a police party from Police Station Bijbehara, during naka checking near Tulkhan crossing, apprehended a drug peddler identified as Mushtaq Ahmad Wagay, son of Ali Mohammad Wagay, a resident of Naid Mohalla, Bijbehara.
“During search, charas-like substance weighing approximately 500 grams was recovered from his possession,” police said.
In another incident, police said that during naka checking at Kerikadal, a police party from Police Station Bijbehara apprehended another drug peddler identified as Qaiser Jeelani Bhat, son of Abdul Kabir Bhat, a resident of Sallar Kullar.
“During search, brown sugar–like substance weighing 6.60 grams was recovered from his possession.”
In a third incident, police said that acting on specific information received from a reliable source, a police team from Police Station Bijbehara apprehended another drug peddler identified as Saboor Ahmad Haroo, son of Ghulam Nabi Haroo, a resident of Bijbehara.
From his possession, police said, sugar–like substance weighing 9.27 grams was recovered.
Regarding the incidents, police said that cases under relevant sections of law have been registered and investigations have been initiated.
