2 drug peddlers held with 15.9 gram heroin; property attached in NDPS case

UDHAMPUR, Feb 5: In its continued drive against narcotics, Police today arrested two drug peddlers and attached property worth Rs 30 lakh in another NDPS case.
A police team of Police Post Tikri intercepted an Innova taxi bearing Registration No. JK01AX-8441 which was coming from Jammu towards Srinagar. During the checking, two persons were found travelling in the vehicle, who disclosed their identity as Muheeb Maqbool Mir, son of Mohd Maqbool Mir of Rangpora, Ellahi Bagh, Srinagar and Aijaz Ahmad Dar, son of Abdul Rashid Dar of Gulabh Bagh, Srinagar.
Upon conducting their personal search, a total of 15.19 grams of heroin was recovered from their possession. Both the accused failed to give any satisfactory explanation regarding the recovered contraband.
Accordingly both persons were arrested on the spot, and FIR No. 28/2026 U/S 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Rehambal. Further investigation into the matter is underway.
Meanwhile, Udhampur Police attached an immovable property worth Rs 30 lakhs belonging to accused Bhopesh Pagetra, son of Om Parkash, of Dhandyal, Tehsil and District Udhampur under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act.
The attachment has been made in connection with FIR No. 24/2026 U/S 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act registered at Police Station Udhampur.
During the course of investigation it came to fore that the accused owns a residential house built on 05 marlas of land bearing Khasra No. 69, situated at Ward No. 21, Dhandyal, Tehsil and District Udhampur, along with certain household items. There were sufficient grounds to believe that the said property had been acquired from the proceeds of crime generated through illicit narcotics trade.
Accordingly, the said residential house, land measuring 05 marlas and two household items have been attached for further legal proceedings under the provisions of the NDPS Act.
