IED defused in Thanna area

RAJOURI, Feb 5: Security forces averted a major tragedy today by recovering and safely defusing an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) from the Khablan area, a remote forest location falling under the jurisdiction of Thannamandi Police Station in Rajouri district.
Reports said, acting on credible intelligence inputs, a joint team of Police and the Army’s Romeo Force launched a well-coordinated search operation in the dense forest area of Khablan. During the operation, security personnel detected a suspicious object, which was later confirmed to be an IED.
Following the detection, the Army’s Bomb Disposal Squad was immediately summoned to the spot. The team carried out a meticulous operation and successfully defused the IED with utmost caution, thereby preventing any loss of life or damage to property.
After the recovery, the entire area was cordoned off and an intensive search operation was launched to track down the terrorists responsible for planting the explosive device. However, no arrests have been made so far. The search operation and area domination continue to rule out the presence of any further threats.
