Beauty is not the flawless face,
Nor gold that time can’t seem to erase.
It lives in smiles that ease the pain,
In quiet strength through loss and rain.
It hums within a hopeful heart,
In kindness shown, in doing one’s part.
In scars that tell a story true,
Of battles fought and made it through.
Beauty shines in honest eyes,
That dream beyond the visible skies.
In being real, in being kind,
In light you leave in someone’s mind.
Not found in mirrors, thin or tall
True beauty is the soul of all.

THE DANCER
Rags or Riches ?
Walk around with clothes, that need stiches
Walk barefoot on the street, exaggerated makeup for the sweet.
Some often pity me, others tell me to work
But this is what I can’t be.
Night brings me solace,
For I can dream of living in a better place.
But as I wake up, I go off to beg
Adorned with clown make up.
Cartwheels between cars, as the signal turns red
A girl like me born to be a star, performs for the bread.
The man in the Mercedes, doesn’t spare me a coin
so I am off to another city, there is a circus I could join.
Perhaps I will sell myself at 13, they view me as if I’m one without feelings.
The businesswomen walks by me,
With not so much as a glance.
She is whom I wish I could be, but I guess
I’ll dance on the street, for the usual sweet.
