SITAPUR, Feb 9 : Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath today stressed the need to remain vigilant against attempts being made to threaten Sanatan Dharma and divide the country. He said that Hindus in Bangladesh are suffering and that Dalit Hindus are being murdered there every day.
In his address after unveiling the Girdhari Nath Maharaj memorial site at the Tapodham Ashram here on Monday, the Chief Minister said:
“If Sanatan Dharma is threatened, the country will be threatened. If you are divided, you will be destroyed. Therefore, we need to be vigilant against those who seek to divide.”
“The enemy of the country is watching intently to see how you will get divided. It is the responsibility of us Indians to join that journey and protect Sanatan. The future is bright for those who remain vigilant in the present. We were enslaved in the past because we were divided, we were cut off in the past because we were divided. Therefore, there is need to remain vigilant. The future is bright for those who remain vigilant in the present,” he said.
Girdhari Nath Maharaj was a saint from the Shaktipeeth located in Balochistan, Pakistan. After partition of the country, he came to Sitapur and completed his spiritual practice. A memorial has been built in his memory at the Tapodham Ashram.
The CM said: “We were enslaved in the past because we were divided. The plight of Hindus in Bangladesh today is no secret. Dalit Hindus are being murdered there every day. But the people of the country remain silent. Therefore, we must remain united.”
He said, “In Sanatan Dharma, the first bite of food is given to the cow and the last to the dog. This is an equal practice found only in India. People even feed flour to ants. No matter how poisonous the snake, people feed it milk on the day of Nag Panchami. This is possible only in Sanatan Dharma”.
“Many attempts were made to break the Sanatan tradition. Some people took refuge but did not follow the refugee duty. India’s entire tradition is connected to this. Many cultures and civilizations of the world have ended, but one culture stands before the world and gives the message of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam – our eternal tradition,” he added.
The CM said: “Sanatan gave everyone the opportunity to grow. The Mughals came, the British came, but those who came looted the religion and culture. Everyone who came here found refuge, but some, having taken refuge here, did not follow the refugee duty but looted the country.”
He said, “China was growing, and the necessary efforts to develop India were not realized. The Mughals had plundered, and the British had abolished the Ashram system. By the time India gained independence in 1947, India’s share of the global economy had fallen to just 2 per cent.”
He said: “India is transforming under PM Modi’s leadership. India is changing under Modi’s leadership. India is now poised to become the third largest economy, after the United States and China.”
