JAMMU, Feb 10: A delegation of Shri Amarnathji Yatra Bhandara Organisation (SAYBO) called on Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, today.
The delegation led by Rajan Kapoor, President, SAYBO apprised the Lieutenant Governor of several key matters pertaining to the logistics and smooth operation of bhandaras along the Yatra route during the upcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra-2026.
The Lieutenant Governor assured the delegation that appropriate action will be taken to address the issues of bhandara sewadars. He also commended the crucial role played by voluntary organizations in the success of the annual Yatra.
Dr Mandeep K. Bhandari, CEO Amarnath Ji Shrine Board and Shri Rahul Singh, Additional CEO, SASB were also present during the meeting.
Senior social and political leader, Pawan Khajuria also called on Lieutenant Governor and submitted a detailed memorandum highlighting a series of pressing issues of the general public, particularly of Udhampur district, seeking early redressal.
Raising serious concerns over road safety and emergency healthcare, Pawan Khajuria sought the establishment of two hospitals — one at Tikri on NH-44 and another at Panara, Majalta on Dhar Road (NH-B) — for providing immediate medical assistance to accident victims. He pointed out that in the absence of nearby medical facilities, victims of road accidents often fail to receive timely treatment, resulting in avoidable loss of lives.
During the meeting, Khajuria underscored the urgent need for establishing a dedicated transport yard at Roun-Domail, Udhampur, noting that the town presently lacks such a facility. He said a transport yard at the proposed site, being away from the main town, would help decongest traffic and streamline movement of goods vehicles. In addition, he demanded the setting up of a warehouse at Roun-Domail to facilitate storage and dispatch of goods without causing traffic bottlenecks in the town area.
He also demanded construction of a well-equipped and well-planned sports stadium in Udhampur town to promote sports activities among youth and keep them away from drug abuse.
Former Cabinet Minister and Apni Party Senior Vice President Ghulam Hassan Mir also called on Lieutenant Governor.
During the meeting, they discussed the current political and security scenario in Jammu and Kashmir. Ghulam Hassan Mir brought several pressing public issues to the notice of the Lieutenant Governor.
On the occasion, Ghulam Hassan Mir also raised issues related to the tourism sector and urged the LG to address them. He requested that three prominent tourist locations in the vicinity of Gulmarg —Baderkote, Gogaldara, and Ringwali— be opened to tourists. Mir said that all three locations have the potential to attract a large number of visitors, thereby generating economic benefits for local residents. He added that these areas are completely safe and secure for tourists.
