Nar Singh rues non-extension of pension scheme to workers

STATE TIMES NEWS
BARI BRAHMANA: A meeting of General Body of J&K State Central Labour Union was held in SIDCO Industrial Complex, Bari Brahmana under the chairmanship of its President, Nar Singh Narania.
Narania expressed his great concern about the workers who are working day & night in the factories/ contractors/ Government Departments to earn their livelihood in these days of high inflation and are saving a little in the shape of Provident Fund for their rainy days but no Pension Scheme has been implemented in Union Territory of J&K before 1, November, 2019. Even some of the workers are thrown out by the contractors, departments and institutions without assigning any reasons due to which the workers are suffering badly. The workers and daily wagers engaged by factories, different departments of Jal Shakti, PDD, PWD, SICOP, Irrigation & Flood Control, Agriculture Department, Jammu Municipal Corporation, Municipal Committees etc. are also being deprived of their social security provided under the EP, & MP Act-1952 which is a mandatory provision under the EPF Scheme. The Union appealed that no exemption/relaxation should be granted to any unit as the same deprives the poor workers of their statutory right. Nar Singh appealed to the Government of Jammu and Kashmir and Government of India to issue standing instructions to the concerned authorities to implement the Pension Scheme from the date of appointment to all the daily wagers/workers who are working with dedication and have devoted prime time of their life to the respective departments as these workers are not entitled for pensionery benefits as per new EPF & Act-1952.
