JU students mesmerise audience with ‘Rashmirathi’ at 25th Bharat Rang Mahotsav

JAMMU, Feb 11: The students of Design Your Degree, University of Jammu today delivered a splendid dramatic presentation of Rashtrakavi Ramdhari Singh Dinkar’s epic poem Rashmirathi at the prestigious 25th Bharat Rang Mahotsav International Theatre Festival 2026, organized by the National School of Drama (NSD), New Delhi.
The event was organized in collaboration with SIIEDC and the J&K Academy of Art, Culture & Languages.
Prof Umesh Rai, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu, congratulated the students for their dedication and artistic excellence.
B R Sharma, former Chief Secretary of J&K Government, graced the occasion as the chief guest, while Padma Shri Prof Lalit Magotra, president Dogri Sanstha, and Harvinder Kaur, Secretary, J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages were the guests of honour.
In his address, B R Sharma praised the entire team behind the spectacular performance, describing it as “par excellence in all respects.”
Padma Shri Prof Lalit Magotra expressed immense appreciation for the production, stating that the performance was at par with any professional theatrical presentation and reflected the immense potential of the students.
Earlier, in her welcome address, Prof Alka Sharma, Director, SIIEDC, University of Jammu, expressed gratitude to Prof Umesh Rai, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu; the Director, National School of Drama; Secretary, J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages; DSW, University of Jammu; Prof. Prakash C Antahal; Principal IMFA Prof. Shohab Inayat Malik; Lokbharti Prakashan; Rajkamal Prakashan; and Shruti Awasthi, Regional Director, IGNCA, for their valuable support in making the production a success.
