SRINAGAR, Feb 11: Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board today inducted 4 modern high-tech ambulances into its public service infrastructure and launched a health emergency service network at major shrines in the Kashmir Valley.
The ambulances were flagged off during a brief function held at Dargah Hazratbal in Srinagar.
Dr Syed Darakhshan Andrabi formally inducted the ambulances into service in the presence of BJP State General Secretary (Organisation) Ashok Koul, who was the guest of honour.
Executive Magistrate of the Board Ishtiyaq Mohiuddin and Imam and holy relic keeper Ghulam Mohiuddin Banday were also present on the occasion.
The ambulances were flagged off for deployment at Dargah Hazratbal in Srinagar district, Babarishi shrine in Tangmarg area of Baramulla district, Chrar-e-Sharief shrine in Budgam district and Aishmuqam shrine in Anantnag district.
They will begin operations shortly to provide emergency medical assistance.
Speaking on the occasion, Ashok Koul said that the Waqf Board has carried out significant reforms and improved facilities at religious places across Jammu and Kashmir.
He said the Board has set an example for other organisations by focusing on public welfare and upgrading infrastructure.
In her address, Dr Syed Darakhshan Andrabi said that development, transparency and public welfare remain the guiding principles of the Board.
She said the procurement and induction of the modern ambulances, equipped with latest medical emergency facilities, was a long-pending project.
She added that the ambulances will serve devotees and residents of nearby areas, ensuring timely medical assistance during emergencies.
Administrators of the Waqf Board, along with Imams and Khateebs, were also present at the function.
