SBI pays tribute to Haryana Cop, credits insurance money to nominee’s account

CHANDIGARH, Feb 13: State Bank of India (SBI) today expressed profound grief over the untimely demise of Jagdish Prasad, a brave police officer from Haryana, who lost his life while rescuing citizens during a tragic amusement ride accident.
According to official statements, the officer displayed exceptional courage and selflessness during the rescue operation, ensuring the safe evacuation of several individuals from a malfunctioning amusement structure.
Tragically, a portion of the ride collapsed during the operation, causing fatal injuries to him. His sacrifice has been widely acknowledged as a testament to his dedication, valour and commitment to public service.
In response to the incident, SBI acted swiftly to extend support to the bereaved family. Despite the incident occurring on a Sunday, teams across multiple offices were mobilized immediately to assess insurance coverage and initiate formalities.
It was confirmed that under an existing arrangement with Haryana Police, eligible personnel were insured for Rs 40 lakh.
Demonstrating efficient coordination, SBI, along with SBI Life Insurance, expedited the claim settlement process. Within just four working days, the insurance claim was processed and approved and an amount of Rs 40 lakh was credited to the nominee’s account.
SBI officials also visited the family of the deceased officer to offer condolences and reaffirm support during this difficult time. The bank highlighted that seamless coordination among its offices across multiple states enabled the quick settlement.
While acknowledging that no financial aid can compensate for the loss of a loved one, SBI reiterated its commitment to standing by customers and communities in times of need.
The bank also paid solemn tribute to Jagdish Prasad, honoring his courage and sacrifice in the line of duty.
