SSP reviews crime scenario, stresses speedy investigation

RAMBAN, Feb 15: To assess the progress of cases under investigation across the district and with a strong focus on timely disposal and effective law enforcement, a comprehensive crime review meeting was convened by the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ramban, here today.
During the meeting, all pending cases were discussed in detail, with directions to ensure their disposal strictly on merit and within prescribed timelines.
Special emphasis was laid on cases registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, with instructions for expeditious investigation, close supervision and quality prosecution.
The SSP stressed the need for robust preventive action against organised criminal networks, particularly drug traffickers, bovine smuggling syndicates and those involved in property-related crimes.
Strict action was also directed against offenders committing crimes against women and girl children.
Highlighting road safety concerns, the SSP called for strict enforcement measures and directed authorities of NHAI, PWD and PMGSY to ensure implementation of corrective steps on roads under their jurisdiction.
Additionally, the SSP reviewed the implementation of the three newly enacted criminal laws and directed officers to ensure proper understanding and compliance at all levels.
The meeting was attended by the Additional SP Ramban, DySP Headquarters Ramban, SDPO Banihal, SDPO Gool, DySP DAR Ramban, DySP SOG Ramban, the Prosecuting Officer and all SHOs and Incharge Police Posts of District Ramban.
