JAMMU, Feb 16: Dr M L Dogra, former Regional Director, Song and Drama Division, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, presently chairman Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sansthan, has been honoured with “UN Book of World Records- 2026” for his contribution in the field of Performing Art & Education , Folk Theatre, Direction & social works.
Descending from the lineage of folk forms of Duggar culture mentored by the pioneers of folk music and theatre director, Dr Dogra continued promoting and encouraging local music and traditions for the last over 60 years & gave his life to encourage the traditional culture of India. He has disseminated the art forms to different sections of the society.
Being a social worker, he is providing free music and computer education to poor and backward class students, running day care centre for senior citizens and music therapy for children affected with Autism & Spectrum Disorder, awareness programmes on various burning themes of Government programmes and policies.
Dr Dogra has also presented mega production musical play like “Doli” based on Save Girl Child , Maa Sheranwali”, based on story of Mata Vaishno Devi & Raja Mandlik, based on folk deity of Duggar Pradesh. He is presently working on musical play on Mata Sukrala Devi “ Mata Sukrala Ki Kahani”, which will be staged in month of March at National Level.
Dr Dogra has been decorated with more than 40 national and international awards from the Government & private agencies (NGO) . Prof Buhari Isah, International Co-Ordinator, UN Book of World Records & Dr Avinash D Sakunde, CEO/ International President UN Book of World Records , New York – registered with Government of India, have appreciated Dr Dogra for his immense contribution to the field of Performing Art, Education and social works.
