SAMBA, Feb 19: Dogra Educational Trust (DET) today launched its flagship academic publication, “International Journal of Transdisciplinary Research & Sustainability,” at a well-attended and intellectually vibrant ceremony held at the Dogra Educational Complex, Samba.
The function brought together eminent academicians, institutional heads, members of the research fraternity and distinguished guests from India and abroad in both physical and virtual modes, reflecting the Trust’s growing engagement with the global academic community.
The programme commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, symbolising the victory of knowledge over ignorance and invoking blessings for the success of the scholarly initiative. A tribute was paid to the visionary founder, late Thakur Gulchain Singh Charak, whose commitment to quality education laid the foundation of the Trust. Speakers described the launch of the journal as a continuation of his mission to connect regional institutions with national and international academic platforms while fostering ethical scholarship and value-based leadership.
The journal’s online portal was formally inaugurated by the chief guest, Prof Neelu Rohmetra, Dean Research Studies, University of Jammu, marking a significant step towards positioning DET in the global research landscape.
Addressing the gathering, Prof Rohmetra highlighted the growing importance of transdisciplinary research in tackling complex societal and environmental challenges. She underlined that collaborative and integrative approaches in research are essential for generating sustainable and inclusive solutions. She also expressed confidence that with strong editorial standards and quality publications, the journal would gain national as well as international recognition.
Earlier, Dr Samar Dev Singh Charak, Secretary of DET and Patron of the journal, spoke about the urgent need for transdisciplinary research in areas such as sustainability, governance, innovation and inclusive development.
The event also featured a Research Award Ceremony to honour outstanding scholarly contributions of faculty members under the aegis of the Trust.
Prominent among those present were Surekha Charak, Prof Ashok Aima, DC Raina, Ranbir Singh Katal, Prof Susela Devi Suppiah, Dr Gaurav Sehgal, Dr Bela Thakur, Dr Dharamveer Sharma, members of the Academic Council, editorial board, principals, faculty and guests.
The ceremony concluded with a formal vote of thanks by Dr Bela Thakur.
