Bill Gates skips AI Summit keynote address as Epstein files’ scrutiny intensifies

NEW DELHI, Feb 19: Business magnate Bill Gates will not be delivering his keynote address, said Gates Foundation India in a social media post on Thursday. This comes as scrutiny of his ties to the late financier Jeffrey Epstein, indicted for sexual trafficking, came to forefront following the release of US Justice Department emails.
The foundation posted on X, “After careful consideration, and to ensure the focus remains on the AI Summit’s key priorities, Mr Gates will not be delivering his keynote address.” It added that the Gates Foundation will be represented by Ankur Vora, President of Africa and India Offices.
Gates’ cancellation follows release of the e-mails released in January by the DOJ also showed up messages exchanged between Epstein and the Gates Foundation’s staff.
“The Gates Foundation remains fully committed to our work in India to advance our shared health and development goals,” the Gates Foundation social media post added.
IndiaAI Impact Summit, which started on February 16, is currently underway, bringing together 20 heads of state, 60 ministers, and 500 global AI leaders.( UNI)
