JAMMU, Feb 19: The 48th Inter-Collegiate Annual Athletic Meet concluded on a high note at the University of Jammu, with the PG Department, University of Jammu, once again asserting dominance by clinching the Overall Championship Trophy with an impressive tally of 61 points. GDC Udhampur secured the Runner-Up Trophy with 50 points after a spirited performance. In the Men’s section, GDC Udhampur emerged as Overall Champions with 47 points, while GCW Udhampur claimed the Women’s Overall Championship title with 36 points.
Individually, Uttkarsh Barnwal of GDC Udhampur was adjudged Best Athlete in the Men’s category for his outstanding performances, while Taniya Devi of GDC Billawar bagged the Best Athlete award in the Women’s category for her remarkable achievements.
Dr Vikram Singh Sahi, Director, Central Library, University of Jammu, graced the occasion as chief guest and congratulated the organizers for providing a platform to students of affiliated colleges to foster camaraderie and showcase their sporting talent. He, along with other dignitaries, distributed medals and trophies to the winners.
Sharat Chander Singh, General Secretary, J&K Amateur Athletics Association and Ravinder Singh, Vice-President, J&K Athletics Association, attended as special guests. Proceedings were conducted by Dr Vimal Kishore, Lakshika Jamwal and Yamnesh Thakur, while the vote of thanks was presented by Dr Mandeep Singh, Assistant Professor, Directorate of Sports & Physical Education, University of Jammu.
The events were smoothly conducted under the supervision of technical officials Ravinder Singh, Nirmal Singh, Gurucharan Singh, Chamel Singh, Harvinder Singh, Gurbachan Singh, Amit Sharma and Parveen Singh, with support from Directorate students.
Among others present were Dr Mandeep Singh, Dr Vimal Kishore, Raj Kumar Bakshi, Ravish Vaid, Vikas Karlopia, Gagan Kumar, Padam Dev Singh, Jai Bharat, Balbir Singh, Ajaz Malik, Dr Mukesh Kumar, Dr Danish Kumar, Dr Jaswant Singh, Dr Vikesh Sharma, Dr Rupali Slathia, Alyas, Goutam Sharma, Ravi Kumar, Tanpreet Singh, Sanjeev Kumar, Harinderpal Singh, Inderjeet Singh, Dr Mahak, Dr Devesh Kumar, Rishiv Sharma and Richa Mandla, besides PTIs, coaches and team managers of affiliated colleges.
