JAMMU: A number of bank employees, under the banner of Jammu Province Bank Employees Federation (JPBEF) celebrated ‘Bank Nationalisation Day’ on Monday in collaboration with affiliate Bank Officer’s Association, Jammu and Kashmir. It was stated by Arun Kumar Gupta, General Secretary JPBEF in a press statement issued here on Monday.
Giving further details, Gupta said that because of COVID-19 SoPs, no public rally or meeting was held but instead, all employees were asked to run a campaign on Twitter #Bank Bachao Desh Bachao. He further said that entire banking fraternity of Jammu responded to the call and registered their presence and opinion on Twitter. Later, a meeting of Bank Employees leaders and representatives belonging to JPBEF and PNBOA was held at Union office.
Speaking on the occasion, Arun Kumar Gupta described Bank Nationalisation of 19th July, 1969 as a National Act, which should be appreciated and defended. He asked all bank employees to stand united in defense of Bank nationalization and against privatization of banks.
Ashwani Pradhan commended working of Public Sector Banks in serving public in all aspects of economy and cautioned about sinister designs of the corporate world to get Public Sector Banks privatised.
Supporting public sector banking, Aroor Banu reminded strength Public sector Banks displayed in 2008, when entire world’s economy was passing through a slump. The meeting opposed all moves of Government to privatise established Public sector Banks and decided to oppose all such sinister moves.
Tara Singh, President JPBEF and Yogesh Kumar, Treasurer were also present on the occasion.
