Chinar Open Winter Games 2026 concludes

GULMARG, Feb 20: The Chinar Open Winter Games 2026, organized by the Indian Army under the Dagger Division of Chinar Corps, concluded amidst the snow-clad landscapes of Gulmarg. The flagship event provided a vibrant platform for youth in Kashmir to showcase their talents and channel energy into competitive pursuits, promoting sportsmanship and community engagement.
This edition saw record participation, with 660 athletes competing across eight winter sports events, including skiing, snowboarding and skating. Among the participants, 166 were girls and 494 boys, highlighting the increasing involvement of women in winter sports.
Lt Gen Pratik Sharma, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Northern Command, graced the event, interacting with participants and organisers. He praised the high standard of sportsmanship and lauded the Games as an initiative to channel youth aspirations toward constructive nation-building.
The Chinar Open Winter Games not only celebrated competitive excellence but also reinforced the Army’s commitment to nurturing talent and developing Gulmarg as a premier winter sports destination in India.
