JAMMU, Feb 21: The Jammu Kashmir unit of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) today held a protest in Jammu, raising concerns over the reported conduct of certain Congress workers during the recent AI Summit event in New Delhi.
The demonstration was led by BJYM Jammu Kashmir president, Arun Prabhat, who was joined by party members and local youth workers. Protesters assembled in the city to express their objections and called for apology from Leader of Opposition, Rahul Gandhi in public.
Addressing the gathering, Arun Prabhat said”When the nation is striving to position itself as a global technology powerhouse, such conduct only serves the interests of those who wish to see India falter. Click here to watch video
He said Congress workers on Rahul Gandhi’s guidance went half naked in the event and tried to bring shame to the nation in a global event at New Delhi which is condemnable.
Political opposition is a democratic right, but sabotaging India’s global image is not.”
MLA Jammu East, Yudhvir Sethi also joined the protest and expressed solidarity with the youth wing members and also called for apology from Rahul Gandhi.
Several BJYM office bearers were present at the demonstration, including vice presidents Abhishek Slathia, Sanjay Sharma, Luvdeval Sharma, and Dikshant Sharma; media in charge Abhiudit Koushal; Sonaal Kakkar; secretaries, Sagar Singh Kotwal, treasurer Rakesh Gupta, Anil Rakwal, Abhineesh Khajuria, Nipun Malhotra, Rahul Pradhan; district president, Jammu, Akshat Khajuria and district president Jammu,North Rajat Singh Manhas, along with their respective teams were also present at the protest.
A significant number of local youth participated in the protest. The demonstration was conducted peacefully and concluded after participants addressed the gathering and raised slogans.
BJYM representatives reiterated that they would continue to raise issues through democratic means if Rahul Gandhi and Congress party fails to apologise in front of the whole nation publicly.
