Govt Closes Disciplinary Proceedings Against Retired JE After Recovery Of ₹1.74 Lakh

Jammu, Feb 24: The Government of Jammu and Kashmir has ordered closure of regular departmental action initiated against Er. Jasvinder Singh, the then Junior Engineer (Civil) in the Public Works (R&B) Department, after recovery of the outstanding amount in question.
As per Government Order No. 65-PW(R&B) of 2026 dated February 24, 2026, the disciplinary proceedings were initiated in connection with alleged irregularities during his tenure in the Estates Division, Jammu, including payments without maintenance of work registers, double payments, advance drawals and non-recovery of material costs.
An inquiry conducted into the matter had found that an amount of ₹1,74,990 was outstanding against the officer on account of misappropriated materials, including TMT steel, PVC water storage tanks, CGI sheets and angle iron. The inquiry report had recommended recovery of the amount before exoneration.
The order states that the retired official has since deposited the full outstanding amount of ₹1,74,990 in the Government Treasury through challans, which have been verified by the competent authority.
Consequently, with the prior approval of the competent authority, the disciplinary proceedings initiated against the officer have been formally closed in the Public Works (R&B) Department. (KNC)
