JAMMU, Feb 28: The restored ‘October Mansion’ in the Himalayan foothills opened its doors for an immersive evening of craft, culture and conversation. The event opened with an invitation ‘only sit down dinner’ attended by dignitaries including senior NC leader Dr. Farooq Abdullah, J&K Deputy CM and Ritu Singh.
The heritage bungalow was transformed into a museum-style installation space, featuring immersive rooms dedicated to the brand’s collaborators and sponsors, including AM/NS India, Jindal Pipes, Rashmi Metaliks, Talla Jewellers, Soho Salon, Tallow.in, DeVANS, Jammu & Kashmir Bank and Sapcon Steels.
Conceived as a living museum the bungalow transformed into a multisensory archive of heritage revival. The air carried a gentle rhythm of OM chants, while natural fragrances of orange peels, cloves and wood bark quietly perfumed the artistic rooms, composed in what the brand calls its own ‘October language.’
A live loom installation and a revived 16th century real silver hand block printing technique were demonstrated in open view. Under soft light, a restored piano, sculptural textile works and fable inspired installations from the Panchatantra created a poetic setting for the October collection on display.
The evening brought together policymakers, industrial patrons and cultural thinkers.
Yesterday, the runway presentation titled ‘The Himalayan Panchatantra’, a story told by October unfolded at Royal Retreat, Hari Niwas.
The showcase featured 22 looks in real silver, hand painted textiles and pure Pashmina. Live hand painting sessions, embroidery demonstrations and smocking with cloves to add natural multisensory accents on fabric were performed beneath an artistic Shikhara inspired installation.
The evening was further elevated by the presence of distinguished fashion and cultural voices who travelled from across India and Dubai, including Radhika Iyengar, Namrata Zakaria, Ekta Ranjani, Jishnu Bandyopadhyay, Pranay Jaitly, Shivpriya Bajpai, Vani Verma, Shounak Amonkar, Anuradha Kumra, Ashish Dhaka, Daniel Franklin, Dr Alka Pandey and Ishita Parikh.
