NEW DELHI, Mar 5: Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Thursday announced the launch of ‘Mama Coaching Classes’, a free coaching initiative aimed at supporting youth preparing for competitive examinations in his parliamentary constituency of Vidisha in Madhya Pradesh.
The coaching programme will initially begin in the districts of Vidisha, Raisen and Bhairunda and will provide free preparation for examinations such as Banking, SSC, MPPSC, DRDO and Forest Services. Students will receive guidance from experienced teachers along with modern study material and career counselling.
Chouhan said the initiative was aimed to ensure that no young person in the region is deprived of opportunities due to a lack of resources.
The minister celebrated his birthday on Thursday as ‘Prem Aur Seva Sankalp Diwas’ and marked the occasion by announcing several public welfare initiatives. He also planted saplings with his family at Smart City Park.
Ahead of his birthday, Chouhan had appealed to supporters not to offer flowers, garlands, hoardings or banners and instead follow the message of “Uphaar Nahi, Upkaar” by planting at least one tree.
Emphasising the importance of environmental protection, Chouhan described trees as “oxygen factories” that sustain life on Earth.
He said trees provide oxygen for humans and animals, shelter and food for birds and insects, attract rainfall that supports agriculture, prevent soil erosion, reduce carbon emissions and help regulate the earth’s temperature.
Paying tribute to his parents, he also announced the launch of ”Prem-Sundar Pratibha Samman’ to encourage meritorious students.
Under the initiative, students securing top positions in Classes 10 and 12 across the eight Assembly segments of the Vidisha Lok Sabha constituency will be felicitated with cash awards of Rs 51,000, Rs 31,000 and Rs 21,000. The top three students across the entire constituency will also receive special larger awards.
Chouhan further announced the launch of ‘Mama Mobile Hospital’ to improve healthcare access in rural areas.
The mobile medical units will operate across all eight Assembly segments of the Vidisha constituency and travel to villages and remote habitations to provide free medical consultation, treatment and diagnostic facilities with the support of qualified doctors.
The initiative will be supported through the MP Local Area Development Fund and public cooperation.
As part of his commitment to social inclusion, the minister also announced a campaign to distribute motorised tricycles to Divyang citizens in the Vidisha region to help them travel independently and carry out their daily activities with dignity.
Chouhan called upon citizens to strengthen social harmony, family unity and responsible citizenship. He also urged people to promote Swadeshi products by supporting local artisans and traders and to follow civic responsibilities such as wearing helmets and adhering to safety rules. (UNI)
