JAMMU, Mar 5 : A special event of the National Women’s Leadership Conclave 2026, organised by the Shakti Udhgosh Foundation (SUF), was held here today.
The event was aimed to bring together policymakers, defence officers, social activists, entrepreneurs and students to deliberate on the theme “Women Leading the New India.”
An exhibition showcasing handcrafted products such as paintings, earrings, honey and other locally produced items was also organised during the event.
The stalls, presented by Rajni Handicraft Store and Highland Forest, highlighted the spirit of women entrepreneurship and the promotion of indigenous craftsmanship.
The programme began on a cultural and spiritual note with a melodious shloka recitation by the students of EDA Kanya Ved Vidyalaya, setting an inspiring tone for the discussions that followed.
The introductory session welcomed the distinguished guests, including Sadhvi Amrutha Trevedi, spiritual leader, Devyani Rana, MLA from Nagrota, Major Priya Deorari, Indian Army officer, Preeti Choudhary, social activist and Shagun Parihar, MLA from the Kishtwar.
Delivering the inaugural address, Preeti Choudhary highlighted the presence of a diverse audience symbolising a generational bridge between participants aged 30+ and speakers with more than 50 years of collective experience.
She spoke about the need to bridge the gap between intent and thinking, while emphasising the importance of empowerment, leadership, modernisation and feminism in today’s society.
Devyani Rana, MLA from Nagrota, addressed the impact of Western modernisation on Indian society, stating that modernisation should not lead to abandoning the country’s traditional values and social systems.
Major Priya Deorari spoke about the ongoing debate between equality and superiority, asserting that women are not seeking superiority but rather equal opportunities and fair representation in society.
Shagun Parihar emphasised the need to work in line with the principle of Antyodaya, focusing on the upliftment and welfare of the last person in society, and highlighted the role of empowered women in inclusive development.
Sadhvi Amrutha Trevedi, while addressing the gathering, spoke about various social evils affecting women in society.
The event concluded with a collective commitment towards strengthening women’s leadership in building a progressive and inclusive India.
Among others who addressed during the event included Seema Sehgal, Shiv Kumar Sharma, DIG Jammu, Aina Datta Sinha, Pratishta Johar and NLP expert Monisa Singh and Ananya Sharma (Directorate of Association).
