KATHUA, Mar 6: Government Degree College (GDC) Kathua hosted an Inter-College Elocution Competition under the Road Safety Awareness Programme, aiming to instill traffic discipline among youth. Acting as the lead college for District Kathua, the event saw participation from ten students representing GDC Mahanpur, GDC Basohli, GDC Hiranagar, GDC Marheen, GCW Kathua and the host GDC Kathua.
Participants delivered on-the-spot speeches on road safety, highlighting responsible driving, adherence to traffic rules, and civic responsibility. The competition was adjudged by Prof. PK Rao, Retired Principal, Higher Education and Prof. Swaroop Chander, Retired HOD English, who appreciated the students’ confidence and insights.
Rahul Thakur (GDC Kathua) won the first prize, Dhruv Dev Singh (GDC Kathua) secured second and Ritesh Doblia (GDC Basohli) claimed third. The first prize winner will represent District Kathua at the Divisional Level Elocution Competition. Principal Dr Manohar Lal and Dr. Neelima Gupta, Convenor of the Road Safety Club, praised the participants and emphasized promoting road safety awareness beyond campus. The event concluded with commendations for faculty, judges, and organizing committee members.
