Ex-MLC meets ACS, raises SCARD Bank creditors’ issue

JAMMU, Mar 6: Former MLC and chief spokesperson of JKPCC, Ravinder Sharma today met the Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) Finance, Shailendra Kumar and raised the issue of around 22,000 SCARD Bank creditors, who are suffering a lot for the last one year due non- payment of their deposits in the bank.
Sharma apprised ACS about the hardships being faced by the bank creditors, who are not getting their returns since March last year. They are agitating for getting back their hard earned money deposited with the bank.
Ex-MLC said majority of the depositors are small and marginal farmers and other poor people, who are not getting their money to meet family needs and meet emergencies. They have approached different authorities in the government and agitating on the streets. The Govt has extended positive assurance to return their money deposits but the creditors are genuinely restless.
He urged the ACS to look into issue for early redressal of the suffering of people and hold an indepth investigation into reasons behind this crisis. The ACS assured to look into the matter.
