JAMMU, Mar 6: On National Pharmacy Education Day 2026, Madr-e-Meharban College of Health Sciences, Chak Bhalwal, here today paid tribute to Mahadeva Schroff, who is known as ‘Father of Pharmacy’ in India and is credited for having started pharmacy education in the country.
The two day event organised in this regard was attended by experts from leading faculty from renowned Pharmacy Colleges of neighbouring States, IIT Jammu and Scientists from Pharmaceutical Industry, president J&K Pharmacy Council, member Central Council PCI and the faculty and students of the College.
Sakina Itoo, Minister for Health & Medical Education, Social Welfare, Higher & School Education inaugurated the event.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister stressed on the need to eradicate the evil of drug addiction from the society.
Professor Satish Talashi of Gandhi Memorial College of Education, Jammu and Director of the Campus, Dr. R.K Raina spoke on New Education Policy, 2020.
Professor Shammy Jindal of IFS College Moga, Professor Vinay Pandit of Laureate College of Pharmacy, Kangra, Dr. Nitesh Kumar and Dr. Mithu Baidya from IIT, Jammu also spoke on the occasion.
Deliberations during the event focused on ‘Drug Abuse in Youth’. Essay competition along with other programmes were also organised on this occasion.
