First ever PG batch in Radiation Oncology begins at GMC Jammu

JAMMU, Mar 6: Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu has achieved another significant milestone with the commencement of the first-ever Postgraduate (MD) batch in the Department of Radiation Oncology.
The initiation of the postgraduate program has been made possible under the leadership of Dr Ashutosh Gupta, Principal and Dean, GMC Jammu, who has consistently supported the expansion of advanced medical education and oncology services at the institution.
The Department of Radiation Oncology, headed by Dr Rahul Sharma, Head of Department, warmly welcomed the inaugural batch of postgraduate students in a small ceremony held within the department. The department aims to provide comprehensive clinical training, research opportunities, and exposure to modern radiotherapy techniques.
The academic program will be guided by a dedicated senior faculty team including Dr Sandeep Kaur and Dr Swaran Singh Katoch who will play a key role in mentoring the students and strengthening academic activities within the department.
The medical physics and radiation safety components of the program will be supported by Sahil Gupta, Parvaze Ahmad Rathar and Asma Javid ensuring high standards of treatment planning, quality assurance, and radiation protection.
Speaking on the occasion, the faculty members expressed their enthusiasm about training the next generation of radiation oncologists and contributing to improved cancer care for patients in Jammu and the surrounding regions.
