LEH, Mar 10:  Leh Apex Body (LBA) will hold a mega peaceful rally on Tuesday, March 16, to press for Ladakh’s demands, urge the Government of India to hold talks on Ladakh’s issues and register public anger over the detention of Sonam Wangchuk under the NSA and the continued non-release of Deldan Namgyal and Smanla Dorje Norbu with connection with the last year 24th September violent incident.

Addressing a press conference held here today, Leh Apex Body, Co-Chairman Chering Dorjay Lakrook informed that the rally will be peaceful and people from across Leh district are expected to gather at Singge Namgyal Chowk.

The rally will start from Singge Namgyal Chowk and conclude with a mammoth public gathering at the Leh Polo Ground.

Dorjay added a similar rally will also be held in Kargil on the same day which will be organized by the Kargil Democratic Alliance.

In Kargil, markets will remain shut during the rally, while in Leh markets will remain open, he added

Dorjay said the Apex Body had earlier proposed to hold the mega rally in Leh on March 12, but the administration advised Apex Body to suggest a new date as there are certain technical issues including the likely swearing-in of the new Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh in the coming days.

Dorjay confirmed that the Deputy Commissioner of Leh has now given permission for the rally on March 16, which was communicated to him earlier this morning.

Among others who were present the press conference included Anjuman Imamia, Ladakh Gonpa Association, Anjuman Moin-ul-Islam, Sufia Noorbakhs, Christian Association of Leh, student and youth leaders and the president of the Ladakh Goba Association.
