Pensioners’ delegation meets Financial Commissioner

Excelsior Correspondent

JAMMU, Mar 11: A delegation of All Jammu and Kashmir Pensioners and Senior Citizens United Front today called on Financial Commissioner (Finance) Shailendra Kumar and submitted a memorandum highlighting the issue of pending retiral benefits of pensioners lying in various treasuries across the Union Territory.
The delegation, led by its president Babu Hussain Malik, informed the Financial Commissioner that many retired Government employees are still awaiting the release of their dues such as GP Fund, Leave Salary, Gratuity and Commutation of Pension, with several cases pending for more than a year.
Expressing concern over the delay, the members said the non-release of retiral benefits has caused serious financial hardship to pensioners, many of whom are struggling to meet household and medical expenses.
The delegation urged the Financial Commissioner to intervene and issue directions to all concerned treasuries and departments for the immediate release of the pending benefits.
Those present in the delegation included Mohammad Latif Qureshi, Madan Sangral, Pawan Kumar, Romesh Kumar, Jaswant Singh, Kamla Sharma and Mrignayani Salathia.
