Billie Eilish to star in movie adaptation  of Sylvia Plath’s ‘The Bell Jar’

LOS ANGELES, Mar 12:  Singer Billie Eilish is set to make her film acting debut with Sarah Polley’s film adaptation of Sylvia Plath’s “The Bell Jar”.
Polley won the best adapted screenplay Oscar for her 2023 movie “Women Talking”. This movie will be her first project since 2023, reported Variety. A
Eilish is also a two-time Oscar winner for co-writing the original songs for “Barbie” and “No Time to Die” with her brother Finneas.
“The Bell Jar” is the semi-autobiographical story that American writer-poet Plath wrote in her short life. The story revolves around a young woman’s descent into mental illness that’s also driven by the societal expectation.
Now considered a literary classic, the novel was published in 1963 under a pseudonym shortly before Plath killed herself at the age of 30.
Polley’s “The Bell Jar” has landed at Focus Features and will be produced by Joy Gorman Wettels, who is known for “Little House on the Prairie” as well as Netflix series “13 Reasons Why”, Plan B Entertainment and StudioCanal. Eilish made her acting debut in the Prime Video series “Swarm,” co-created by Donald Glover and Janine Nabers and starring Dominique Fishback. The multiple Grammy winner is also co-directing the upcoming concert tour documentary “Billie Eilish: Hit Me Hard and Soft – The Tour” with “Avatar” and “Titanic” helmer James Cameron. (PTI)
