Sub-Junior Hockey C’ship begins

JAMMU, Mar 12: The 11th Shaheed Bhagat Singh Sub-Junior Men Hockey Championship was organized by the Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh Foundation in collaboration with Hockey J&K at KK Hakku Hockey Stadium, Jammu.
As per handout issued seven teams are participating in the championship. As per eligibility rules, players must be born on or after January 1, 2010. The championship has been organized annually since 2012 to spread awareness among youth about the sacrifices of the country’s martyrs.
The championship was inaugurated by Rajeev Sharma, accompanied by Dr Taran Singh, President of the Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh Foundation.
In the inaugural match, Bandhu Rakh Hockey Club defeated MBS Hockey Club by a huge margin of 15-0. Tarjot Singh scored five goals, while Sonu netted three goals. Somarjeet Singh and Ankit scored two goals each, while Harshmit, Gurneet and Ravi contributed one goal each.
Sahil and Sakshiyam officiated as umpires. Minakshi served as scoring judge, Geetu as technical officer, and Kirandeep Singh as timing judge, while Gurpreet Singh acted as reserve umpire.
