JAMMU, Mar 13: A woman was seriously injured after being allegedly attacked during a land dispute in the Rehal Damalian area of Bishnah on Friday, police officials said.
The injured woman has been identified as Parveen Kumari, a resident of Rehal Damalian.
According to officials, the incident occurred when she objected to her neighbours raising a plinth on a piece of land claimed by her, which led to an altercation.
During the dispute, one of the accused allegedly attacked her with a sickle, leaving her seriously injured.
Following the attack, locals rushed the woman to a healthcare facility in Bishnah for initial treatment, officials said, adding that due to the seriousness of her injuries, she was later referred to Government Medical College Jammu for further treatment.
Police have registered an FIR under relevant sections of law and arrested one person in connection with the assault.
Meanwhile, further investigation into the matter is underway.
