REASI, Mar 13: Following India’s victory in the T20 World Cup, star opener Abhishek Sharma paid a visit to the revered Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Cave Shrine in Trikuta Hills, Katra, Reasi district on Friday.
Several videos showing the cricketer walking on foot, taking a battery car ride and interacting with people en route the cave shrine surfaced on social media. Dressed in a white kurta-pyjama, he was seen standing on the pilgrimage route with folded hands and a tilak on his forehead, offering prayers at the sacred site.
Sharma played a pivotal role in India’s World Cup final against New Zealand, scoring a match-winning 52 off 21 balls, including six boundaries and three sixes, after a challenging start to the tournament where he had recorded three consecutive ducks. His innings gave India a solid foundation in the first innings. The young batter continues to hold the top spot in the latest ICC Men’s T20I batting rankings, released on Wednesday.
