JAMMU, Mar 15: The topper of J&K Administrative Services (JKAS) exams has flagged hard work and maintaining distance from social media as something of utmost importance for cracking such tough examinations.
Talking exclusively to the Excelsior, the JKAS topper 2026, Absyu Sharma claimed that the biggest sacrifice he did for cracking these exams in flying colours was that just after completing the college he stopped his social media activity because of which he remained cut off from his friends.
The JKAS topper said that today digital media, AI and social media can distract anyone, so one should be focussed about the target and must reduce all such platforms if can’t avoid fully. Click here to watch video
“Apart from this, I reduced the time I earlier spend in roaming to different places and I also reduced the time I gave for games and sports because preparation for JKAS demands more time and hard work and if one is willing to give the same, success is sure,” he maintained.
Sharma further said that combination of hard work and smart work ensures cracking of such exams.
“As far as smart work is concerned, one should analyse the old question papers and take mentorship of those who have already cleared such exams. One should also get own papers evaluated at coaching centres,” he said adding: “This was my second attempt as last time I did all on my own and avoided such tips and later on I realised my mistake and this time I got guidance from my seniors and also received coaching to clear the administrative exams.”
The JKAS topper informed that such exams today have become a level playing field and to clear these he got much motivation from his family.
“My father is a Police officer and my uncle is also JKAS officer and motivation was very much present at my home itself,” he further said.
Sharma agreed that many ups and downs remain there while preparing for such exams and one may also get easily de-motivated in this journey but there was his elder brother who helped him a lot in boosting his morale during such tough times.
On his plans regarding IAS exams he said that he has already attempted UPSC for two times.
“Now I will put more energy this time to go through those exams,” he said.
Sharma also said that a minimum of 7-8 hours daily preparation is important for clearing such exams and to work out all the three stages of JKAS, the only formula is hard work.
He said that trend analysis and practise is must while preparing for such exams and for this one should practise old papers to know the trend used in these exams.
“For remaining updated regarding current affairs, one should make short notes for current data figures as these helps a lot,” Sharma continued adding: “Choosing optional is important and as philosophy was my favourite, I choose it.”
He also said that if one prepares with hard work, one year is sufficient for cracking these exams.
Talking about his priorities on assuming responsibility as an officer, the JKAS topper said that he will work for saving the youth from drug addiction and will do all he could for the marginalised sections of the society.
In a message to the JKAS aspirants he said: “Do hard work and believe in yourself, you will succeed.”
