Jammu, Mar 17: The Indian Institute of Management Jammu (IIM Jammu), in partnership with Stree Shakti, convened a dynamic Women Leadership Dialogue to celebrate and advance women’s empowerment and leadership development. This event brought together an inspiring group of women leaders, professionals, and social entrepreneurs dedicated to fostering growth and opportunity for women in diverse fields.
The programme featured distinguished guests including Prof. BS Sahay, Director of IIM Jammu; Kuwarani Dr. Ritu Singh, Director of Hari Niwas Hotel; Rekha Modi, Founder and President of Stree Shakti; Rakhee Bakshee, Founder and Editor of Her World India and Communication Advisor at IIPA; Neerja, Co-lead of Women Leaders Conclave; Dr. Shubhra Sharma, Mission Director of the J&K Rural Livelihood Mission; senior JKAS officers Sapna Kotwal and Sunaina Mehta; and social entrepreneur Mr. Tarun Uppal.
Moderated by Rakhee Bakshee, Founder and Editor of Her World India and Communication Advisor at IIPA, the session focused on capacity building, skill enhancement, and the impact of innovation-especially in emerging areas such as artificial intelligence, technology, governance, women ‘s journey and rise in political participation and leadership was also discussed. Participants included accomplished women like Dr. Mitali Gupta, Adv. Gayatri Jamwal, Adv. Rosina Afzal, Nirmala Mahana and Prof. Pragya Khanna. These leaders brought expertise from law, academia, media, and social work, Women Sarpanch’s enriching the conversation with varied perspectives.
Reflecting on the initiative’s importance, Bakshee noted, “Empowering women through skill training and enabling them to adapt to new technologies will create meaningful impact not only in their personal growth but also in societal progress.” She engaged participants ranging from women sarpanches to legal and media professionals, underscoring the role of continuous learning and mentorship in developing resilient leaders.
Prof. BS Sahay reaffirmed IIM Jammu’s commitment to nurturing women leaders, stating, “Listening to the inspiring stories shared today strengthens our resolve to foster an environment where women can thrive as leaders.”
Bakshee expressed gratitude for the vibrant participation and collaborative spirit, announcing ongoing plans-alongside Stree Shakti-to roll out further programmes aimed at inclusive growth and expanding the network of women leaders.
This Women Leadership Dialogue marks a significant stride in creating a vibrant community of empowered women in Jammu and beyond, championing shared learning, innovation, and sustained leadership growth.
