SKIMS forms grievance redressal panel

SRINAGAR, Mar 17: The Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences has reconstituted the grievance redressal committee for its Soura campus and SKIMS Medical College Hospital, Bemina, in a move aimed at strengthening mechanisms for addressing complaints of staff and students.
According to an order, the new panel has been constituted and is intended to streamline the handling of day-to-day grievances within the institutions.
The committee will be chaired by Prof. Mir Iftikhar Bashir of the Department of Endocrinology, SKIMS Soura, while Prof. Sheikh Irshad Ahmad from the Department of Anaesthesiology has been appointed Member-Secretary.
Other members include Dr. Javid Ahmad Gilkar, Department of Community Medicine; Dr. Faisal Rashid Guru, Department of Paediatric Oncology; Dr. Samina Mufti, Department of Hospital Administration; Dr. Feroze Ahmad Mir, Department of Neurology; and Dr. Semina, Department of Pharmacology, SKIMS Medical College Hospital Bemina. The Assistant Legal Remembrancer, SKIMS Soura, has also been included in the panel.
The committee has been mandated to examine all written complaints submitted by doctors, staff and students of SKIMS Soura and SKIMS Medical College Hospital Bemina.
It will ensure time-bound resolution of grievances and recommend action as per rules in cases found to be genuine.
It has also been empowered to look into the matters relating to the Lieutenant Governor or Chief Minister’s Grievance Cell.
Additionally, the panel can recommend disciplinary action against individuals found to have filed false or frivolous complaints.
