NEW DELHI, March 18 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday spoke with Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah and conveyed his greetings on the upcoming festival of Eid, while discussing the evolving situation in West Asia and issues related to regional security.
In a post on X, Modi said, “Spoke with HH Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah, Crown Prince of Kuwait and conveyed greetings on the upcoming festival of Eid.” He added that both sides exchanged views on recent developments in West Asia and expressed shared concerns over the situation.
The Prime Minister reiterated India’s firm position on sovereignty and territorial integrity, stating that India condemns attacks on Kuwait’s sovereignty. He also underlined the importance of maritime security in the region, noting that ensuring safe and free navigation through the Strait of Hormuz remains a top priority.
“We agreed that sustained diplomatic engagement remains essential for regional peace and stability,” Modi said, highlighting the need for continued dialogue amid ongoing geopolitical tensions in West Asia.
The conversation also touched upon the welfare of the Indian diaspora in Kuwait, a country that hosts a large number of Indian nationals working across sectors. Modi expressed appreciation for Kuwait’s continued support in ensuring their safety and wellbeing.
India and Kuwait share longstanding ties rooted in trade, energy cooperation, and people-to-people connections. The latest interaction between the two leaders comes at a time of heightened regional sensitivities, underscoring the importance both nations place on stability, cooperation, and the protection of shared economic and strategic interests.
