LEH, Mar 20: In a significant move to strengthen unity within Ladakh’s tourism sector, key stakeholders on Friday decided to re-appoint the post of Chairperson of the Ladakh Travel Trade Alliance (LTTA), underlining its importance in guiding the industry.
The decision was taken during a joint meeting of major tourism bodies, including the All Ladakh Hotel and Guest House Association (ALHAGHA), All Ladakh Adventure and Tour Operators Association (ALATOA), All Ladakh Taxi Operators Cooperative Ltd, Ladakh Maxi Cab Cooperative Society Ltd, and Ladakh Bike Rental Cooperative Ltd.
Following the decision, Tsetan Angchuk, who is a former president of All Ladakh Tour Operaters Association (ALTOA) has been appointed as chairperson for LTTA for a period of two years.
The associations unanimously emphasized the need for strong and unified leadership at a time when Ladakh’s tourism industry is facing evolving challenges and transitions. They noted that the role of chairperson is crucial for coordinating among stakeholders and ensuring a collective approach to sectoral issues.
In a joint statement, the stakeholders highlighted that unity remains key to protecting livelihoods, promoting fair practices, and positioning Ladakh as a responsible and resilient tourism destination.
Travel trade bodies futher stated that LTTA will serve as a central platform for aligning efforts, engaging with government and policy-making bodies, and promoting sustainable tourism practices.
The associations also reiterated their commitment to working in close coordination, setting aside differences, and prioritizing the long-term growth of Ladakh’s tourism sector and the communities dependent on it.
