JAMMU, Mar 23: Helpline Humanity & Saraswathi Education and Cultural Charitable Trust organized its 9th Annual Scholarship and 31st Book Distribution Function, aimed at supporting deserving and underprivileged single-parent students. The event was held in the gracious presence of chief guest Dr Arvind Karwani, Relief & Rehabilitation Commissioner and guest of honour Pearl Pandita.
During the function, scholarships-named Indra Garyali, Ravi Garyali and Ravi Misri Scholarships-were awarded to selected single-parent students who applied through both offline and online modes. The selection was carried out by a committee headed by Prof Indu Kilam to encourage students to continue their education without financial barriers.
Chief guest Dr Karwani also inaugurated the distribution of free books and study materials for the 2026-27 academic session to support the students’ academic growth. While addressing the gathering, he lauded the organization for promoting education and youth empowerment, emphasizing collective responsibility toward uplifting underprivileged sections of society. He urged students to channel their energy productively and assured departmental support for the organization’s mission, “Education for All.”
Pearl Pandita encouraged students to work hard, set goal-oriented targets, and use social media constructively rather than waste time. The program began with Saraswati Vandana and Ganesh Stuthi performed by students of Mata Saraswati Pustakalaya Library, Purkhoo branch.
Other dignitaries present included Dr Sushil Wattal, MK Yogi, BL Jalali, Anil Bhat, Vikram Koul, Roshan Lal Pandita, Deepak and Ashwani, alongside community well-wishers, parents and students.
MK Bhat, Founder Member, reaffirmed the trust’s commitment to students’ welfare and announced plans to open more library branches in collaboration with the Relief & Rehabilitation Department. The event concluded with a vote of thanks, coordinated by Palak Bhat, Parmodth, Yogita Koul, Sania Raina, Sunju, Bhawan, Sanjay, Pooja Raina, Reva Devi, Nahiraka, Renu Razda and Sunita.
