JAMMU, Mar 29: Jammu-based Avengers lifted the Akhnoor Premier League (APL) Season-1 title, defeating local side Jai Chandi Maa (JCM) by 42 runs in the final at Palwan Stadium, Akhnoor. Batting first, Avengers posted 112 runs, while JCM managed only 70. Surinder Kumar was named Man of the Match for his brilliant 43-run knock and Rishabh (Shaktiman) was adjudged Man of the Tournament for his all-round performance, scoring 40 runs and taking 11 wickets.
The winners received Rs 51,000, runners-up Rs 25,000 and the Man of the Tournament Rs 5,000. The first-ever floodlit night tournament featured 16 teams and drew over a thousand spectators.
MLA Akhnoor, Mohan Lal Bhagat, the chief guest, praised the event and announced plans to upgrade the stadium and develop an akhara for players. Other dignitaries included SDPO Varinder Gupta, ZEPO Ashok Kumar, and Judo Coach Jugal Kishore, while citizens Ganesh Sharma, Yash Sharma, Shamsher Dass, Dev Raj Bhagat, Suman Singh, Sham Lal, Bindu Singh, Karan Singh, Sonu Malhotra, Sanjay Sharma, Sumit Sharma, Krishan Lal, Darshan Chib, Harish Sharma, and Rattan Lal attended.
