SRINAGAR, Apr 1: J&K has secured the top position among Union Territories, excluding Delhi, on the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS) Pragati Dashboard, reflecting improved performance in technology-driven policing and citizen services.
The ranking, released by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, is based on monthly performance assessments of States and Union Territories.
As per the latest evaluation dated March 1, 2026, J&K achieved first rank in the UT category, while Delhi topped the overall national ranking.
Officials said the assessment measures parameters such as data quality, timeliness, and accuracy across national policing platforms integrated with the Interoperable Criminal Justice System (ICJS).
The achievement comes following sustained efforts by the CCTNS team of the Crime Branch, J&K Police, which ensured strong performance across key indicators.
These include full connectivity of police stations, deployment of core CCTNS applications, timely data synchronisation with the National Data Centre, and effective integration with ICJS components, officials said.
Authorities also highlighted the round-the-clock availability of citizen-centric services through the JK Citizen Portal, enabling easier access to police-related services.
Officials said the improved ranking is expected to benefit the public through faster case registration and tracking, better accuracy of police records, and more efficient grievance redressal and verification services.
They added that enhanced coordination across different components of the criminal justice system will further streamline policing and service delivery.
