POONCH: The Shaheed DySP Manjit Singh Volleyball Club retained the Men’s title while women’s trophy went to Stadium XI in the 33rd District Volleyball Championship which was organised by Volleyball Association of Poonch at Sports Stadium, here on Tuesday .
In the men’s final, the Junior side of Shaheed Manjit Club defeated their seniors 2-1 with set score being 25-22, 19-25, 15-13.
In the finals, Additional District Development Commissioner Poonch, Basharat Hussain was chief guest while Shazia Kouser was guest of honour.
A total, 12 teams took part in this competition including three in women section.
Prominent among others present were Mohd Qasim (District Officer, DYSS), Manmohan Suri (TSO), Krishan Lal Sharma (ex-Sports Officer, JKSC, Nirdosh Kumar Sharma (Manager Sports Stadium), Prem Parkash Luthra (ex-DYSSO), Dr. Udesh Pal Sharma, Mukesh Kumar (PTI), Narjeet Singh (ex-ZPEO), Amrish Kumar, Pawan Kumar (PEL), Tariq Khan (chairman Shaheed Manjit Singh Volleyball Club), Rajinder Singh, Sanjay Kumar, Rajinder Singh, Bal Krishan, Matinderpal Singh (Hockey coach) and Mushtaq Ahmed (Boxing coach).
Neeraj Sharma was Organising Secretary of the event while Sourabh Sharma was Convenor.
The matches were officiated by the technical panel including Jatinder Paul, Shafqat Bukhari, Sachin Sharma and Aman Sharma.
