BANDIPORA: The officers of Central GST department and Income Tax jointly carried out an outreach program at District Bandipora, under which interactive sessions were held with various stakeholders like trade associations of small and medium businessmen, young professionals, association of specially-abled persons at DC Office Meeting Hall, Bandipora.
M P Singh, Principal Commissioner, Income Tax Dept Srinagar, Dr Owais Ahmad, Deputy Commissioner, District Administration Bandipora, Varun Soni, Deputy Commissioner CGST, Mehraz Wani, District Project Manager Industries Bandipora, Hira Lal Kaul, Superintendent CGST and Ajay Sopori, Superintendent CGST interacted with a number of participants included Wali Mohammad, Shamshad Ahmad and Nassir Hussain (representatives of Business community), Aabid Hussain Malla (Bar Association member), Mohammad Mubarak Baba (representatives of Employees Union), Masood Hussain Samoon and Ghulam Ahmad Malla, Naseer Ahmad Mir, Mohammad Maqbool Mir and Muneer Ahmad, Nasir Khuehami, Baseera Rafiquee, Zahoor Ahmad Lone, Amir Anees and Abdullah Paswal. The officers briefed about the outreach programmes being conducted by CGST and Income Tax departments across the UT of J&K and Ladakh Taxpayers Awareness Campaign, ‘Mulaqaat’.
Varun Soni, Deputy Commissioner motivated the taxpayers to come into the fold of GST compliance by registering themselves. He used various examples whereby the credit on purchase can be utilized to pay tax liability on outward supplies and how in certain cases refund can be taken by the taxpayers. He explained the process of compliance with GST taking into account taxpayers’ perspective.
M P Singh Pr Commissioner IT and Varun Soni, Deputy Commissioner started interactions with the people present on the occasion. Principal Commissioner of Income Tax further emphasised that economic development without financial discipline cannot bring self respect among people. He said the first step towards financial discipline is to pay their due taxes and file their ITRs which is a very essential process.
Varun Soni Deputy Commissioner CGST Chandigarh zone threw light on GST and counted its benefits. He gave a detailed Power point presentation regarding GST regimes and explained various forms, provisions and laws. He explained them the importance of Taxpayers’ Awareness and Facilitation camp wherein feedback forms are being distributed among participants so that the department will incorporate the suggestions and present them to the Government.
The officers explained that policy decisions will be taken to the government via proper channel, CGST Officers guided horticulturists about Food processing industries incentive schemes and told that they will forward their respect to the government via proper channel to the government regarding their request for tax concessions and fund allocation in respect of budget 2022.
