GOA: Dr. B.K.S Sanjay was honoured on receiving the Padma Shri by The Indian Orthopedic Association (IOA) during the inaugural function of the 66th Annual Convention.
Dr. Sanjay has been honoured with India’s fourth highest civilian award Padma Shri this year on 9th November 2021 for his distinguished social and medical services in Delhi by President, Ram Nath Kovind in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and other cabinet ministers and distinguished dignitaries.
Dr. Sanjay has been honoured for his distinguished services to the humanity by various professional and social organization, his students, batch mates, Uttarakhand Orthopaedic Association and colleagues.
It was decided to honor Dr. Sanjay by IOA in Goa for his services to services to the Indian Orthopedic Association.
More than 5000 orthopedic surgeons from across the country participated in this conference.
Upon receiving the honor, Dr. Sanjay honored the Chairman of IOA Dr. B. Shivshankar, Secretary Dr. Naveen Thakkar, President of the conference, Dr. Ram Chadda and other officers of the Association.
On the basis of the merit, he had been awarded Swedish Government Fellowship, Swiss AO International Trauma Fellowship, Japanese Chiba Cancer Centre Fellowship, USA Mayo Clinic Visiting Clinician Fellowship, Australian Royal Adelaide Hospital Spinal Fellowship and Russian Ilizarov Centre Fellowship.
He has presented more than 100 papers in various national and international conferences and published his academic work in top rated indexed international journals.
Dr Sanjay has been honoured to deliver lectures at various Universities in Japan, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, USA, and Malaysia. He is the Founder President of Uttaranchal State Chapter of Indian Orthopaedic Association and a member and fellow of many national and international professional bodies.
He has been advisor to state and UPSC selection boards. Currently he is a member of executive council of HNB Uttarakhand Medical University, Dehradun.
Dr. Sanjay has also rendered his social services during Covid19 pandemic by writing many awareness columns in leading Indian newspapers and by giving many awareness programmes on radio and TV. For that he has been honoured with corona warriors Award and unstoppable Covid 19 fighter.
Dr. Sanjay told the journalists during the conference that he would not only continue to reduce disability and raise awareness to reduce disability and raise awareness to prevent road accidents throughout his life, but also continue to try to pursue it more vigorously. Dr. Sanjay said, that we should learn and obey the road traffic rules. If everyone does this then it will be a good example of nation building contribution.
