NOWSHERA: NSS, NCC Units and Red Ribbon Club of GDC Nowshera organised water bodies’ cleanliness drive under the aegis of “Clean India Programme” under the banner of “Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav”. During this cleanliness drive, five water bodies – four streams and Manawar River near Nowshera town were cleaned up by volunteers on Friday.
About 100 volunteers from students and staff participated in this drive and cleaned the area around various water bodies. The main motive behind this campaign was to spread awareness related to cleanliness and rejuvenation of rivers and water bodies that is one of the objectives of Clean India program. These drives are a wonderful experience for students to motivate them to contribute their bit to society and they are major role players to raise awareness on the importance of cleanliness in one’s neighborhood.
Prof. Rajat Bhardwaj, Prof.Pooja Devi, Lect. Sonika Devi, Lect.Kiran Bala, Lect.Shivali Sharma and volunteers of NSS, NCC and RRC participated in the cleanliness drive with full enthusiasm. The entire drive was carried out by NSS Programme Officer, Prof. Inam Ul Haq and NCC “CTO” Dr. Akhil Khajuria.
