JAMMU: “Drone war launched by Pakistan and anti-national elements within the country is facing a tough resistance in Jammu and Kashmir wherein many such attempts have been foiled and many flying objects have been captured or shot down by the alert Jammu and Kashmir Police and other security personnel in recent past. Seeing the trend, one can establish that nefarious designs of neighbouring country to disturb peace stand razed to the extent that it had not been able to strike at its will or create terror in the Union Territory”.
This was stated by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) J&K Executive Member Raman Suri, who added that while drone flying has been banned in several districts of Jammu and Kashmir, attempt to procure anti-drone equipment by security agencies is also on the cards.
To strengthen this resolve, surveillance on borders has been increased due to which the Kanachak police was able to shot down a drone 6.36 kms inside the Indian Territory, just 500 meters short of Akhnoor Bridge. The drone was stated to be carrying powerful 5 kg IED to trigger terror strike.
Earlier also twin explosions carried out by drones at Air Force base in Jammu on June 27 had reportedly left 2 IAF personnel injured. Pakistan and anti-national elements, Raman Suri said, have resorted to new techniques of using flying objects to target vital areas and also drop ammunition and drugs but the alert cops of JKP and security agencies manning borders have foiled all their attempts.
During the past one-and-a-half years, explosives dropped by all drone sorties have been recovered by cops and several militants have also been arrested in this connection.
Raman said that drone flights have also been sighted near military installations at Kaluchak, Ratnuchak and Kunjwani, Pallanwalla, Arnia, Ramgarh and Hiranagar but our efficient cops have either shot them down or reverted their flights back to Pakistan.
Raman Suri urged the youth of Jammu and Kashmir to not fall prey to the propaganda of Pakistan and work for strengthening the nation’s socio-economic fibre, which is vital.
He said, hundreds of schemes launched by the Union Government are today reaching the masses directly without any pilferage and this is the reason that Jammu and Kashmir is witnessing massive participation of youth in developmental schemes. He said, young boys and girls must take advantage of all such schemes and build a strong future for themselves as well as the nation.
