JAMMU: Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu Prof. J.P Sharma on Tuesday took review of the crop varieties that are ready for release by SKUAST-J.
Prof. Pardeep Wali, Director Research, welcomed all the participants and apprised the house that eleven varieties are ready for being proposed by different teams of scientists of SKUAST-J for release.
Threadbare discussions were held during the meeting on eleven crop varieties including wheat (JAUW672), maize (maize popcorn SJPC01), mustard (JM 13-5), gobhi sarson (JGS 12-3), moong (JAUM 0936, rajmash (BR-39), walnut (JWSP-06), guava (red flush) and kagzi lime (Sel 1001).
Vice Chancellor, Prof. Sharma praised the efforts done by the scientists for developing new varieties and asked them for their further refinement and dissemination of the plant material and technologies by involving KVKs, field functionaries and farmers at different locations, wherever required.

Bhadwal, Dean (Faculty of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry), Dr. S.E.H. Rizvi, Dean (Faculty of Basic Sciences), Dr. Shahid Ahamad (ADR & Nodal Officer, PME Cell), Dr. B.C. Sharma (Prof. & Head, Division of Agronomy) and Dr. Amit Jasrotia (Assoc. Professor & Head, Division of Fruit Science) also participated in the meeting. Dr. Mahital Jamwal, Deputy Director (Research) presented vote of thanks.
