ANOTHER MAJOR BREAKTHROUGH

Proving its commitment made with the people of Jammu and Kashmir during bifurcation of erstwhile state into Union Territory, the Central Government has initiated several prestigious projects for the welfare of J&K people who were earlier suffering a lot due to apathy of successive Governments and numerous other challenges. There is not a single sector which has been left unattended by present dispensation in J&K as each and every sphere is receiving focused attention of the Government. Where special stress has been laid to provide a durable and all-weather road network to Union Territory and numerous out of the box initiatives were taken in this regard, on the other side equal stress was given to enhance the aviation and railway sectors as well. Presently, the work on the most prestigious the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) project is going on in full pace to connect the Valley with Kanyakumari through rail link. Although it was not an easy job to lay tracks, as J&K comprises of majority hilly and mountainous terrains yet the challenge was accepted and it is only due to the dedicated working of our engineers that the project is going on expeditiously. In this regard, in a major achievement, the Northern Railway has achieved a line and level breakthrough in constructing a railway tunnel between Sumber and Arpinchala stations. As per the sources, this tunnel would be the longest tunnel of Indian railways and form a crucial part of the project. Pertinent to mention here that the railway bridge in Basholi over the river Chenab which will be the highest railway bridge in world, more high than the Eiffel Tower, is also a part of this significant project and majority work over the same has been completed. With the completion of this railway project, not only a major boost will be provided to the tourism but it will also help a lot in supporting industry and defence sector. The pace of works going on at ground level shows that this significant railway project, which was never ever dreamt by people of J&K, will see the light of the day very soon.
