JAMMU: The four days selection trials for selecting J&K Fencing Team for participation in 32nd Senior National Fencing Championship to be held at Amritsar from March 13 to 16, 2022 and 23rd Sub-Junior National Fencing Championship to be held at Raipur, Chhattisgarh from March 26 to 28, 2022, commenced here at MA Stadium Jammu.
In senior category, more than 50 fencers from different districts participated. After selection trials, the selection Committee shortlisted the fencers for coaching camp and final selection trials. The trials under Sub-junior category will be held from tomorrow.
The fencers shortlisted for coaching camp today include Senior Epee (Boys): Pankaj Kumar Sharma, Rajan Prasher, Ajay Kumar, Sohit Thakur, Kamal Kumar and Sufyan Waheed Sohil. Senior Sabre: Vishal Thapar, Javed Ahmed, Mayank Sharma, Lakshay Sharma, Amit Chib and Vansh Mahajan. Senior Foil: Mohd. Ismail, Mohd. Tariq, Tariq Hussain, Dushyant, Arun Kumar, Aanish and Gourav Thakur. Senior Sabre (Girls): Shreya Gupta, Jaspreeet Kour, Rishika Khajuria, Kritarthi Kotwal and Anant Samakshi. Senior Epee: Twinkel Gupta, Gayan Kour, Raghi Verma, Gazal Suri, Riya and Archana Devi. Senior Foil: Riya Bakshi, Shriya Sharma, Ashu Rani, Ishika Sawhney, Mansi Sharma (Res.) and Deksha Sharma (Res).
